The Crockett Times Alamo, Tenn. Thursday, April 3, 1947 J. A. Thomas Services for J. A. Thomas, 88, highly respected citizen of the Hopewell community near Alamo were held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Center Church of which he was a member. He died Tuesday morning about 3:40 o'clock. Services were conducted by Rev. H. A. Butts, assisted by Rev. B. A. Walker, with Ronk Funeral Home in charge. Mr. Thomas was born and lived his entire life on the same farm and was an outstanding citizen of his community. His wife died about a year ago. They had been married 58 years. Five sons, Bernard and Ewell of near Alamo; Harlan of Alamo; Atha of Elbridge and William of Pontiac, Mich., survive. Also a sister, Mrs. L. W. Follis of Alamo. Mr. Thomas will be missed in the community and county and the sons have the sympathy of a host of friends. |
