Lonnie F. Taylor Family Obituary |
The Crockett Times Alamo, Tennessee Thursday, July 22, 1948 Vol. 16 No. 21 Four killed in plane crash--Services for four members of the Lonnie F. Taylor family of near Trenton, who were killed Friday in an airplane crash at Junction City, Ga., were held Sunday afternoon at Plains, Ga. Two others, Mrs. Lorena Ratliff Paradise and Bobby Ratliff were killed in the plane piloted by Mr. Taylor. The plane fell in a field about a mile from Junction City and burned at 7:30 a.m. Friday. Marvin J. Hester, rural storekeeper, reached the scene in a few minutes. The plane was still burning and he said the passengers apparently met instant death. He was able to pull a suitcase from the craft containing clothing and a letter addressed to Mrs. Paradise, through which identification was established. Mrs. Paradise left Americus, Ga., a few miles from the crash Sunday to visit Mrs. Taylor. They were returning when the crash occurred. Mr. Taylor had just opened an airport in Gibson County between Bradford and Greenfield. He was a licensed pilot. Mr. Taylor's brother, Harold Taylor, was killed near the crash location in October 1945 when his motorcycle collided with a truck on the Highway. His sister, Mrs. J. T. Thornton, lives at Dawson, Ga., near the spot where the plane crashed. Mr. Taylor was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Lonnie Taylor of Trenton and grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. Will Taylor of the 15th District of Crockett County. |
