The Crockett Times Alamo, Tenn. Thursday, July 4, 1946 Mrs. Samuel Tatum Mrs. Samuel Tatum, age 82 years passed away at her home near Maury City on Sunday, June 30, 1946. She had been ill around one and one half months, her condition becoming very serious about two weeks ago. Before her marriage to Samuel Tatum, on November 16, 1884, she was Zilphia Anna Gurganus. For around sixty years she had lived at the home where she passed away, and for a period of between fifty five and sixty years, she and her late husband, Samuel Tatum, lived at his home. Her husband passed away on November 23, 1942, at the age of past 83 years. Many years ago, she and her husband united with the Missionary Baptist Church at Maury City, and both were members of this church at the time of their deaths, both attending regularly, until old age and ill health stopped their attendance. She leaves one son, S. Homer Tatum, of this county; one sister, Mrs. J. D. Sanders of near Friendship, and a number of other relatives, including several nieces and nephews. She was blessed with many friends and kind and thoughtful neighbors, who were ever mindful of her comfort, and wants, while she carried on at the old home, and during her last illness. Funeral services were conducted at the home Monday at 2:00 o'clock by Rev. J. B. Hill of Tigrett, assisted by Rev. J. Paul Palmer of Alamo. Burial in Maury City cemetery.
