R.F. TANNER. 85, DIES IN CLINIC AT MEMPHIS

Was Board Chairman Of Bank Of Alamo

Alamo, Tenn., Dec14.--R.F. Tanner, chairman of the Board of Directors of the Bank of Alamo, dies Thursday in the Campbell Clinic in Memphis.

The death of the 85 year old banker followed a fall at his home Monday just before he was to leave for a board meeting.

With Bank Since 1904 Mr. Tanner had been with the bank since 1904. He was president for a number of years, retiring a few months ago to become chair- man.

Mr. Tanner was a member of the Methodist Church. He was a business man here for many years. He was once mayor, magistrate and chairman pro tem of the coun- ty court, and chairman of the Elec- tion Commission. He was born in the county and was one of its best known citizens.

Survivors Listed
He leaves two daughters, Mrs. D.B. Davis of Stuttgart, Ark., and Mrs. Irene Duck of Nashville; three sons, Roy Tanner and Leslie Tanner, both of Memphis, and Lyn- don tanner of Alamo, with whom he lived, and three grandchildren.

Services will be held at the First Christian Church here Friday at 2 p.m. with the Rev. U.S. McCaslin officiating, assisted by the the Rev. Charles P. Herndon. burial will be in Alamo Cemetery with Ronk Funeral Home in charge.
