The Crockett Times Alamo, Tenn. Thursday, December 19, 1946 Henry J. Sutton Passed Away Henry Jefferson Sutton, age 88 years, 1 month, 7 days passed away Friday morning at 5:50 o'clock at the home of his son, Garland Sutton, 236 Conger St., Jackson, Tenn. He was born in 1858 at the Shanghi Roberts place in Cageville, now Alamo, Tenn. He spent most of his life in Crockett County until the last ten years which he spent in Jackson. He was married in 1884 to Nell Viney Cherry. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in July, 1934. He was a member of the Christian Church. Mr. Sutton had been in very good health until four weeks ago when he suffered a stroke. He is survived by six children, 32 grand children and 21 great grand children. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. Vaughn of Alamo at Cox's Chapel, Sunday afternoon. Remains were laid to rest in the Chapel cemetery. Ronk Funeral Home in charge. |
