The Crockett Times Alamo, Tenn. Thursday, October 24, 1940 Charles E. Smith Charles E. Smith died at his home in the Fifteenth District on October 1. He suffered a stroke about a week prior to his death. He was 67 years of age and a member of Bethesda church. Funeral services were held at Bethesda on Saturday by Revs. White, Saulsbury and Tramel. Burial was at Elizabeth. His wife, Mrs. Rosa Hughes Smith; one son, Emmett Smith and a daughter, Mrs. Paul Agee, survive. He was a good citizen and many friends are grieved by his passing.
