From the Commercial Appeal (Memphis), October 21, 2000. FRIENDSHIP - Eddie Thomas McCanless, 95, farmer, died of congestive heart failure Thursday (October 19, 2000) at his home. Services will be at 2 p.m. today at Zion Hill Baptist Church, where he was a deacon, with burial in Bellvernon Cemetery. Friendship Funeral Home has charge. Mr. McCanless, the widower of Helen Gooch McCanless, leaves two daughters, Eva Jane Maxwell of Blanche and Louise Earnheart of Maury City; six sons, James McCanless, Gordon McCanless, Robert McCanless and Don McCanless, all of Friendship, Bill McCanless of Dyersburg and Doug McCanless of Nashville, 21 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
