Thursday, August 1, 1946 Jim Ed Kelley Drowns in Mississippi Jim Ed Kelley, 13, son of Mr. and Mrs. Orben Kelley of Caruthersville, Mo., was drowned when the collision occurred between the Mississippi River ferry "Big Chief" and a barge train a half mile north of Caruthersville Sunday night.
