The Crockett Times Alamo, Tennessee Thursday, May 13, 1948 Vol. 16 No. 11 Mrs. Fannie Jones--Mrs. Fannie Thompson Jones, 87, widow of the late J. H. Jones, died suddenly, Saturday, May 8th at the home of her daughter, Mrs. W. A. Griffin in Maury City. Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at the Maury City Baptist Church with R. E. Black and J. W. Lowrance officiating. She was a member of the Primitive Baptist Church. Mrs. Jones was the daughter of the late James Nelson Thompson and wife. She was well known throughout Crockett County where she had a host of relatives and friends who mourn her passing. She leaves four sons, Joe Jones of Maury City, O. C. Jones of Alamo, W. J. Jones of DuQuoin, Ill., and L. H. Jones, Humboldt; three daughters, Mrs. W. A. Griffin and Mrs. W. T. Poston of Maury City and Mrs. E. C. Pittman of Alamo; a sister, Mrs. S. D. Boothe of Maury City. Pallbearers were J. T. Connell of Halls, H. C. Colvett and Coy Branch of Alamo, Howard Hopkins and Cecil Moore of Crockett Mills, Mike Martin of West Point, Miss., Leon Rice of Maury City and J. C. Pittman of Memphis. Burial was in the Pond Creek Cemetery with Thompson Funeral Home in charge. |
