From Crockett Co. Tn. Newspaper DOD 07/05/1944 I. M. Jaynes, Veteran Contractor of City, Dies at 68 Years I. M. Jaynes, 68, died today at 8:45 a.m. at Memorial Hospital where he was carried last Thursday from his residence, 426 East Baltimore. His death was attributed to heart complications. He was born November 14, 1875 in East Tennessee and when a child moved to Bells where he resided until some 45 years ago when he and his family moved to Jackson. He married Miss Lintrue Bradley of Crockett County in 1892. During his residence here he did contractor's work and built some of the outstanding buildings such as the old Marlowe Theater, which is now the State Theater, White Hall School, Catholic school and numerous others. Mr. Jaynes was active in politics and was one of the leading republicans of the city. He was an Elder in the Cumberland Presbyterian Church. Survivors other than his wife are two sons, Jesse L. Jaynes and William L. Jaynes both of Florence, Alabama.:one sister, Mrs. Alice Jaynes of Arkansas; three brothers, Jim, Ben,and Nelson Jaynes all of Bells; six grandchildren and three great grandchildren and three great great granchildren. The remains will be at Lanier Funeral Home until the funeral hour tomorrow at 2:30 from the Chapel, with Rev. H.C. Walton and Rev. O. T. Arnett officiating. Interment will follow in Hollywood cemetery. The following pallbearers are requested to meet at the funeral home at 2:15 p.m.: Jim Garrison, John McHughes, I. M. Vaughan, G. M. Steele, Harry Bland and Carl Ward. Lanier's in charge. |
