Services for Mrs. Sarah Hodge, who died at her home in Gadsden, Monday, January 12 at 4:30 a.m. were held January 13 at 1:30 p.m. at Gadsden Baptist Church. Burial was in Pond Creek Cemetery with Ronk Funeral Home in charge. Mrs. Hodge was 68.

She was the wife of T. E. Hodge of Gadsden, who survives.

She is survived by four daughters, Mrs. Gracie Williams, Mrs. Effie Acred of Dyersburg; Mrs. Chesley Byrd, Gadsden; Mrs. Leon Puckett, Memphis and two brothers, George Robbins and John Wess Robbins.

Mrs. Sarah Jane (Sally) Hodge, age 68, passed away at her home in Gadsden, Monday, January 12 of a heart attack.

The funeral was held January 13 at the Gadsden Baptist Church at 1:30 p.m. with Rev. B. A. Walker and Rev. Carl Davis officiating. Burial followed in the Pond Creek Cemetery with Ronk Funeral Home in charge.

Mrs. Hodge was born and reared in Crockett County, the daughter of the late Sol and Molly Copher Robbins.

She united with the Providence Baptist Church in early life. She was a consecrated Christian and was loved and held in the highest esteem by all who knew her.

She is survived by her husband, Thomas Edgar Hodge and four children. They are Mrs. Sammie Acred of Dyersburg, Mrs. Leon Puckett of Memphis, Mrs. Chesley Byrd of the Mason Grove community and Mrs. Herman Williamson of Dyersburg. She is also survived by eleven grandchildren, a sister, Mrs. Bob Kail of Alamo, and two brothers, John Wess Robbins of Alamo and George Robbins of Pasadena, Calif.

The pallbearers were three nephews and three grandson-in-law, Charles Carman, William Hodge, Raymond Hodge, Edward Jones, Ray Parker and Halbert Atkinson.


Sarah J. (Sally) Robbins was the daughter of Solomon H. O. Robbins & Mary A. (Mollie) Copher. She married 10 Jan 1904 in Crockett Co. to Thomas Edgar Hodge
