Mrs. Mary Catherine Burrow Hefley Obituary

Mrs. J. M. Hefley, aged 82 years, died at the family home about four miles west of Humboldt in the Coxville neighborhood, Friday morning, Dec. 9th, after and illness of about week of influenza.

Mrs. Hefley had resided in this section for about 62 years and was beloved by many people who knew her. She had been a consistent member of the Gadsden Baptist church for many years and her funeral services were held at that church. Rev. R. E. Black, pastor, conducting the services. The remains were buried in Rosamon burying ground.

Besides her husband, Mrs. Hefley is survived by seven sons and daughters. The sons were; Henry and George Hefley of Humboldt and Arthur Hefley of Jackson. The four daughters are: Mrs. Eliza Griffin of St. Louis, Mrs. M. E. Reasons, Mrs. M. L. Dunlap, and Mrs. W. S. Moore, of Humboldt. There are also several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

The friends of the family throughout this section greatly regret the passing of Mrs. Hefley and sincerely sympathize with the bereaved husband and children.

The funeral services and burial occurred Sunday at 11 o'clock a.m. and were largely attended.

Chester Hefley, Mrs. Annie Hefley Woods, Clevie Jones and family, of Crockett Mills, attended the funeral of their aunt, Mrs. James M. Hefley, Sunday.

The Death Angel visited the home of Mrs. James M. Hefley at Coxville last Friday and claimed the wife, Mrs. Katherine Burrow Hefley, with whom he had lived for 62 years. She had reached the ripe old age of 82 years. Funeral services were conducted Sunday morning at the Baptist church here, where she held her membership since early womanhood, Bro. R. E. Black, of the Church of Christ in charge of services. Interment followed in Rosamon cemetery near Gadsden. Seven children, a number of grandchildren and great-grandchildren survive to mourn the going away of the mother and grand-mother. The children are: Henry and George Hefley of Coxville; Arthur Hefley of Jackson; Mrs. Evan Reasons, of Humboldt, Mrs. Eliza Griffin of St. Louis; Mrs. M.L. Dunlap and Mrs. Scott Moore of Coxville. Much sympathy is felt and extended the bereaved ones.
