Pvt. Herbert L. Hammond--The body of Pvt. Herbert L. Hammond, son of Mr. and Mrs. Carl B. Hammond of Friendship has been returned to Memphis from Italy aboard the Army Transport Lawrence Victory the army announced. Funeral arrangements will be made later.

Pvt. Herbert L. Hammond--Funeral services were held at the Church of Christ in Friendship, Wednesday afternoon at 2 p.m. for Pvt. Herbert L. Hammond. Ross O. Spears, minister of the Church of Christ of Dyersburg officiated. Burial was in Sudbury Cemetery with Sudbury Funeral Home in charge. Pvt. Hammond was killed in action in Northern Italy September 28, 1944. He was 20. He leaves his parents, Mr. and Mrs. C. B. Hammond of Friendship.
