Camille Tully Halbrook Obituary |
The Crockett Times Alamo, Tennessee Thursday, September 23, 1948 Vol. 16, No. 30 Recluse found dead in her Humboldt home--The body of Mrs. Camille Tully Halbrook, 77 year old widow, who had lived as a recluse for several years in a one room house at Humboldt was found dead Wednesday. She was last seen September 5th. Her sister, Mrs. William Gilliam, in whose yard the small one-room house of Mrs. Halbrook was located, thought Mrs. Halbrook was on a visit to her son. Officers reported that Mrs. Halbrook died of natural causes, probably of a heart attack, in the home alone at night. She was in bed and in nightclothes when found. The sum of $30 in cash was found pinned on her person. It was also disclosed by a bankbook that she had $1500 on deposit. She leaves three daughters, Mrs. J. R. Privett of Alamo, Miss Geneva Halbrook of Bolivar and Mrs. Brooksie Brogdon of Humboldt and one son, Mr. Curtis Halbrook of Trenton, a sister, Mrs. Gilliam of Humboldt and two brothers, Sam Tully and John Henry Tully both of Lexington. Services were held Thursday morning at 11 a.m. at the Old Gibson Primitive Baptist Church of which she was a member. Rev. Blackburn officiated. Burial was in Old Gibson Cemetery with Ronk Funeral Home in charge. |
