Esq. Robert B. Griggs Obituary

COXVILLE--J. C. COX, merchant of Ridgely, Lake County, came Saturday and spent the night with his sister, Mrs. RICHARDSON, of Gadsden, and Sunday night with his brother, J. R. COX, of this place. The occasion of his visit was the DEATH of his brother-in-law, ESQ. ROBERT B. GRIGGS, of Mason's Grove, whose death came not as a surprise, he had been in a low state of health for sometime. Funeral services were conducted at his home by Rev. STAFFORD. Interment was made in the Griggs Cemetery.

In another section of the paper:
MR. ROBERT B. GRIGGS--well known farmer and land owner, of Mason's Grove, Crockett County, died Friday, May 4th, after an illness of pneumonia and heart trouble. Deceased was born in Davidson County, Tenn., on July 20, 1855. He is survived by his wife; two sons, W. W. & E. L. GRIGGS; six daughters, Mrs. I. A. WILLOUGHBY, Mrs. O. U. WILLOUGHBY, Mrs. Nannie WILLIAMS, of Mason's Grove, Mrs. W. Z. WILLIAMS, of Fruitvale, Mrs. W. E. HELMS, of Jackson and Miss Edna GRIGGS, of Memphis. Funeral services were held at the family home by Rev. STAFFORD, after which the remains were interred in Oak Hill Cemetery. (From Gadsden--Two sons, James and Ernest Griggs preceded their father in their early manhood several years ago. Mr. GRIGGS was married to Miss Mary Sue COX in 1876. son, W. W. is Willis W. and E. L. is Ernest L. GRIGGS.)
