J.D. Penn Gorman, of Alamo community died of injuries recieved in an explosion on " C" Line, one of the ammunition loading lines of the Milan Ordnance Center at Milian. The explosion occurred at 1:20 P.M. Aug. the 9th. Twenty person were injured in the exposion and were immediately rushed to the hospital for treatment. Six of the twenty died. Mr. Gorman was 40 years of age and is survived by his wife; three brothers, Will T. Gorman of Alamo, Henry Gorman of Cooter, Mo. and Lonnie Gorman of near St. Louis, Mo., two sisters Mrs. J. B. Knox and Mrs. Troy Avery of this county. Many other relatives and friends survive. Funeral services were held at Qunicy Methodist Church Friday at 4 P.M. by Rev. Frank Perry of Crockett Mills. Burial was in Quincy cemetery Ronk Funeral home in charge. The paper didn't give the date but I think it was around 1945
