Mattie Tyree Fielder Obituary

DEATH... Mrs. Mattie TYREE FIELDER, 90, died last Thursday at her home at Opelousas, Al. She was born and reared near Friendship, daughter of the late Dr. Franklin Decatur TYREE and Mrs. Lucy Alice JONES TYREE. After she married Dr. Will FIELDER of Friendship, they moved to Amarillo, Texas and made their home. Dr. FIELDER died after they had lived there a few years and she moved to Trenton with her two small children. She taught in Trenton and Gibson County schools until she moved to Opelousas to make her home with her daughter, Mrs. W. T. STEWART about thirty years ago and continued to teach in the La. school system until she was 75. She leaves her daughter and a son, Clarence H. FIELDER, executive in the International Shoe Co. of St. Louis; her brother, Dr. Cyrus E. TYREE of near Trenton. The remains were brought to Trenton for funeral and burial.
