Capt. Wm. M. Craddock Obituary |
Crockett County Sentinel Alamo, Tennessee Friday, March 6, 1874 On Monday evening last, at about half past 3 o'clock, Capt. Wm. M. Craddock breathed his last and his uncaged spirit joyfully wended its way to the place of celestial happiness. For a number of years he was the subject of very severe bodily affliction, but endured it all with christian fortitude, scarcely ever uttering a syllable of complaint. From the busy walks of life he will not be greatly missed, for his illness confined him to his room nearly ever since the late war; but in the large circle of friends of which he was the center the loss is irreparable, and to the grief-stricken widow and lonely orphans, whose lives seemed wrapt up in his, the death brought a pang of sorrow inexpressible. But all is over now. His earthly misery is an end and his soul is in the blissful paradise of God. We extend our warmest sympathy to the bereaved family and ask them not to weep, for their loss is his gain; but strive to meet him in the arms of Jesus. |
