CROCKETT COUNTY SENTINEL VOLUME 77 NUMBER 3 THURSDAY AUGUST 4, 1949 BELLS, TENNESSEE DEATH--Services for Tech. Sgt. David Marion COTTEN were held today, Thursday at Crockett Mills Christian Church, burial in Sudbury Cemetery. He was the son of Mr. & Mrs. D. M. COTTEN. He was killed in a mission over Germany on July 19, 1944. He was 22. Sgt COTTEN volunteered and entered the service of his country in August 1942 with the 8th Air Force. He was first engineer and gunner on a B-17 Flying Fortress with base headquarters in England and was awarded air metals and the Oak Leaf Cluster for meritorious achievement while participating in aerial flights. He leaves his parents; a son, Marion Douglas COTTEN; two brothers, Joe R. COTTEN and Billy COTTEN; and one sister, Mary COTTEN. |
