Mrs. E. J. Cooper Died on Tuesday

Mrs. Elizabeth Whitenton Cooper, 73 years of age, pioneer resident of Bogalusa [Louisiana], died at her home on Avenue H. Tuesday, May 14th after a lingering illness. Mrs. Cooper, who was the widow of the late E. J. Cooper, had been a resident of this city for 33 years.

Mrs. Cooper is survived by one sister, Mrs. Sally Thorpe, Bogalusa; four brothers, W. L. Whitenton of Paradise, Calif., R. O. Whitenton of Stillwater, Okla., C. L. Whitenton of Kansas, and M. M. Whitenton of Banks, Idaho, eight stepchildren, Wilmot Cooper, Bogalusa, J. R. Cooper, Varnado, Earl Cooper, Jackson, Miss., M. E. Cooper, Wiggins, Miss., Mrs. Cora Bennett, Mrs. Bertha McIntyre, Mrs. Lena Wells, all of Washington, D.C., and Mrs. Edna Leeper of San Francisco.

Funeral services were held Wednesday in the Chapel of the Poole Funeral Home with the Rev. Henry Rickey and Dr. J. Pat Horton officiating. Interment was in the Ponemah Cemetery with the Poole Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements. (from the Bogalusa, La., Enterprise)

Mrs. Cooper was reared in Crockett County.
