The Crockett Times Alamo, Tennessee Thursday, January 8, 1948 Vol. 15 No. 45 Services for Henry Bettis, who died of pneumonia at the home of his son, Larry Bettis of Hellen's Bluff, were held Wednesday morning at 11:30 at the South Fork Baptist Church, the Rev. T. E. Williams officiating. Burial was in Halls cemetery under the direction of Thompson Funeral Home. Mr. Bettis was 68. Born in Crockett County, Mr. Bettis was a prosperous farmer, an Odd Fellow and a member of the Baptist Church. He was a member of the Crockett County Court for 17 years and a leader in all school and civic affairs of his community. He leaves his wife, Mrs. Viola Richards Bettis; one son, Larry Bettis; 3 grandchildren; two brothers, J. L. Bettis of Dyersburg and Ruben Bettis of Chicago, Ill. |
