RITES TODAY FOR HORACE BEDWELL Former Postmaster At Friendship Dies At Home There Yesterday FRIENDSHIP, TENNESSEE--- Services for Horace Bedwell, postmaster at Friendship from 1924 until 1936, were held at two o'clock this afternoon at Friendship Methodist Church. The Reverend J.L. Leggett of Fulton , Kentucky will officiate assisted by the Reverend L.A. Smithmier of Friendship. Burial was in Friendship Cemetery with Sudbury's Funeral Home in charge. Mr Bedwell, who was 76, died Monday at his home in Friendship after a month's illness. He was born in Carroll County, a son of the Reverend L.A. Bedwell and Mrs. Mary Spearman Bedwell. He moved to Friendship in 1901and entered the real estate and insurance business. He was a Methodist, having served as Sunday school superintendent in the church, and had been a member of the Woodmen of the World. His wife, Mrs. Sarah Carter Bedwell, died in 1950. He leaves five sons, Fred Bedwell of Somerville, Tennessee, Holice Bedwell of Washington, Charles Bedwell and James Bedwell of Friendship, and Horace Bedwell, Jr. of Arlington, Virginia; three daughters, Mrs. Grace Younger of Friendship, Mrs. Robbie Younger of Washington and Mrs. Elsie Davis of Indianhead, Maryland, two brothers, Clark Bedwell of Dyersburg and W.W. Bedwell of Friendship; two sisters, Mrs. Fanny Bells of Somerville, N.J., and Mrs. Dora Ferguson of Friendship; 24 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
