The Crockett Times Alamo, Tenn. Thursday, December 18, 1947 Mrs. Lena Barton Mrs. Lena Ryan Barton, who with her husband, N. W. Barton owned and operated the Crockett Hotel at Bells, died Friday night at seven thirty after a few days illness of pneumonia. The funeral services was held Sunday afternoon at the Bells Baptist Church of which she was a loyal member, by her pastor, Rev. J. E. Sharp and she was buried in Brownsville, the home of her birth. Mrs. Barton was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. John Ryan, pioneers of Brownsville. She leaves her husband, a retired L. & N. Railroad conductor, two sons, Frank Barton of the Philippine Islands and Hafford Barton of Knoxville; three sisters, Mrs. John Griffin and Miss Elizabeth Ryan of Memphis and Mrs. E. G. Holley of Brownsville; two brothers, Dan T. Ryan of Jupiter, Ala. and Dr. Frank Ryan of San Francisco, Calif. Goosmann Funeral Home in charge. |
