Charlie B. Baker

Charlie B. BAKER, 95, retired Crockett County farmer & landowner, who had also operated a general store in Halls, died about 4:15 p. m. Sunday in Parkview Hospital in Dyersburg, which he entered Tuesday of last week of uremia. Services were at 3 p.m. Tuesday in Archer's Chapel Methodist Church, of which he was a founder and leader and in which he taught Sunday School for half a century. Burial was in the church cemetery. He was born in Bakersville, where his forefathers had been prominent. His father was a Civil War hero at Shiloh.

His family moved to West Tennessee in 1885 by covered wagon. His wife, Mrs. Annie Norman BAKER, died in 1935. He leaves three sons, Shellie BAKER, of near Halls, Cecil BAKER, Mayor of Gates, and Melvin BAKER, of near Gates; and a daughter, Mrs. Cora GILLILAND, of Halls.
