The Crockett Times, Alamo, and/or Crockett County Sentinel, Bells 3 Apr 1975 Funeral services for Harry Smith Avery, Jr. 43, were held Sunday afternoon at 3 o'clock in Knoxville. Mr. Avery died suddenly Thursday night at Fort Sanders Hospital. Harry, Jr. was formerly from Alamo, a graduate of Alamo High School. He was the son of Mrs. Rebecca Sue Fleming Avery of 7821 Corteland Dr. in Knoxville and Harry S. Avery of Smithville, Tennessee. He was a member of the West Hills Baptist Church, member of the Downtown Sertoma Club, a counselor for State Dept. of Corrections Association, member of the Tennessee Corrections Association and served in the U. S. Air Force. Other survivors are: his wife, Dr. Anne Bass Avery; one son, Stephen Avery; two brothers, Dr. Robert Bruce Avery and John Stephen Avery, all of Knoxville; one sister, Mrs. Jimmy D. (Betty Sue) Slaughter of Greenville, Tenn. |
