CROCKETT COUNTY SENTINEL VOLUME 77 NUMBER 8 THURSDAY SEPTEMBER 15, 1949 BELLS, TENNESSEE DEATH--Mrs. Herman AUSTIN, familiarly known to her friends as "Miss Tommie" died Monday morning at the home of her daughter, Mrs. George ARCEANEAUX in Houma, La., at the age of 87. She was born in Nashville and came to Crockett County at the age of 17 to teach school and was a teacher in the county schools for 55 years. She was the widow of the late Herman AUSTIN, attorney of Alamo, and the mother of six children. Besides the above daughter, the following survive: Mrs. Mary E. KELLEY of Enid, Okla., Mrs. Irma LACEY of Sulpher, La., E. T. AUSTIN and Robert AUSTIN of Memphis, and H. E. AUSTIN, of Miami, Fla. Also six grandchildren. Services in the Alamo Methodist Church, burial in church cemetery. |
