Linie Evans Agee Obituary |
Paper and date unknown A true, kind, good Christian woman was called from the home of Mr. and Mrs. W.N. Nolan, two miles north-east of Alamo, on Wednesday evening of last week, to her long sought, for home sweat home. Mrs. Linie Evans Agee was a most patient, cheerful sufferer for several years - not an invalid, however - and those loved-ones about her never tired in ministering, for she had always delighted in serving rather than being served. She was in her 77th year, and had been a member of the Methodist church since a little girl. She lived to be 53 years before she married. Her marriage to Uncle Jimmy Agee was a most happy one. He preceded her a half dozen years ago. She has made her home for the past three years with Mr. and Mrs. Nolen, Mrs. Nolen being her niece. On Friday morning at 10 o'clock a short service was held in the home after which her body was carried to Lebanon church, where the regular services were held by J. O. W. Nunn. Internment in the Lebanon cemetery. A large crowd was present and we have but few times seen more genuine grief than was manifested on this occasion. All had felt the power of her motherly life and felt keenly their loss. No one felt a deeper sorrow over her "home-going" than her nephew present, Mr. Frank O. Evans, of Waverly, Tenn, a popular salesman for Roberts-Johnson-Rand, St. Louis, who came to pay a just and loving tribute to one who was a mother to him in his boyish life. The floral offerings were beautiful. [Salina W. "Linie" Evans was the daughter of Allen B. Evans & Martha W. Glover, and the widow of James Evans (Jim) Agee] |
