| W. R. Crichlow was born in Williamson County,
Tenn., May 15, 1848, son of J. E. and Harriett L. (Moore) Crichlow, born
August 11, 1813, and October 28, 1820, respectively. The former came to
the western portion of the State in 1858 where he followed farming and
merchandising until a short time ago, when he retired from active life
and died October 6, 1886, resigned to his fate. His wife died December
13, 1864. Both parents were strict members of the Methodist church. Our
subject�s grandparents, Henry and Katie M. Crichlow, were born in 1783
and 1786 and died in 1859 and 1850, respectively. W. R. Crichlow worked
on a farm until eighteen years of age, then engaged in the merchandising
business with his father. At the end of three years he went to Johnson�s
Grove and for about four years was in business with J. E. Gregory. In 1874
he came to Bell�s Depot where he has been quite a prosperous merchant,
with the exception of two years, up to the present time. December 5, 1877
he married Permelia Annie Wilson, daughter of J. and Permelia A. Wilson.
To Mr. And Mrs. Crichlow were born the following family: Sallie Lee, Daisy
Eva Moore and Wilson. Mr. Crichlow is an excellent citizen, a member in
good standing in the Methodist Episcopal Church South and a Democrat in
politics. |
