William H. Biggs

William H. Biggs was born September 4, 1850, in what is now Crockett County. His father, William W., was a native of North Carolina, and was born about 1817, and died in September, 1884. His mother's maiden name was Matilda Robertson, who was also a native of North Carolina, and was born about the year 1820. Our subject was reared on a farm, where he continued until about the age of eighteen years, when he engage in the mercantile pursuit at Friendship, and continued there four years. With the means thus procured he began the study of law in September, 1872, and in June, 1874, graduated at Cumberland University, and the following September located here, where he has since successfully practiced. At present he is county attorney. July 25, 1877, he married Katie Jones, of Dyer County, daughter of Thomas W. and Elizabeth Jones. To this union four children have been born: Jimmie F., Asa Jones, Willie Kate, and Tommie Carthel. Mr. Biggs is a substantial citizen. He is a member of the orders of Masonry and K. of H. and in politics is a Democrat.
