• I am looking for records on the following BROWN: Joseph BROWN who married Nannie (SAXTON OR SEXTON); Nannie died around 1939. They had John H., Oscarr, Lonzo, Lucy, Dee Dee, and Irene. Irene married a PARKER and Lucy married twice a GATES and a LAMBERT. Irene is said to have 13 children; Dee Dee died before 1939; Nannie died in her son's home with a broken back; they have said to have stayed in Newport, TN; census 1910 puts them in Cocke County as well as death certificate for John H. BROWN. Any information would be helpful. Nannie was also said to be the daughter of a Cherokee Chief and their land was taken away.

• Searching for info re Davidson SPROUSE, Cocke County sheriff at one time, his wife, Elizabeth WILEY, their descendents, especially James Grant SPROUSE, who emigrated to Oklahoma. James Grant SPROUSE's wife was Laura Levina MCMAHAN, also of Cocke County. LAURA'S parents were McKinney MCMAHAN and Sarah Nancy HOLDER. James and Laura were the parents of my grandfather, Burrell Grant SPROUSE, who died in 1922 in an explosion in the No. 11 coal mine in Haskell County, Oklahoma when my father, Burrell James SPROUSE, was 15 days old. Killed with him was my great-grandfather, F. Everett SEATON, who came from Tennessee. I've found SEATON queries in Cocke County. Can anyone tell me if F. Everett Seaton, whose father was JACOB SEATON of Tennessee and mother was Sarah C. SEATON, possibly of Missouri, had roots in Cocke County?

• I am looking for information about the parents of Robert James Addision Bell and his sister Isabella C Bell. Robert and his sister are listed in the 1850 Tennessee Census Decatur County. They were living with John and Sarah Price. I think that Isabella might have married a Montgomery. I assume their parents died somewhere between 1847/1850. Robert was my Grandad. I have his life history. I do not have any information concerning their parents or about Isabella C. Bell after the 1850 and 1860 census when she was 13 years old. If you have any information concerning the Bell's of Decatur or Perry County Tenn. I would really appreciate your help. Family rumors indicates that (my Bell Family)traveled/came from North Carolina with the ancestors of Jesse and Frank James. He is mentioned several times in the Minutes of the Big Pigeon Babtist Church for the year 1792.He was the father of Reuben PADGETT, born c.1810. I believe the younger Reuben was born in Cocke County. Reuben had a son named Reuben and probably had other sons named Andrew, William and John, among others.

• Peter Harrison GIVENS was born 1836, Jefferson Co., Tenn. He was a private in Co. H, Carter's Cavalry, CSA. He was killed at the battle of Nashville, April 12, 1864. He married Martha Ann BRIZENDINE, February 3, 1850 in Dandridge, Tenn. She was born the daughter of Thomas BRIZENDINE and Matha DAVIS on June 16, 1827 in Dandridge. She died Feb. 9, 1906. The children of Peter H. GIVENS and Martha BRIZENDINE were: William A., John Wesley, Dorcus J. and Charlie Hugh. John Wesley GIVENS was born June 21, 1854 and died Dec. 13, 1918. he married twice, first to Carrie Hattie BURNETT on Oct. 9, 1883. They had three children: Earl, Osmond Boyn "OB" and Burnett Cawood "BC." His second wife was Nannie HITCH. They married on Nov. 16, 1898 having two children. I am looking for information about the GIVENS line from Peter Harrison on back and the BRIZENDINE line from Martha on back. I have a great deal of information on the other branches. AFTER birth of Thelma, Florra Kyker married Homer Bryant. Florra M. Kyker daughter of William G. Kyker (b 1867) wife Harriot _____ (b 1867). William G. son of Joseph J. Kyker (b 1818) and Pricilla_______ (b 1822). Thelma married Roy Elden McSween. The other names I have are William Riley and Sarah Hannah, but I don't think they were his parents - possibly aunt and uncle? - Luke had a child with Flora Kyker in 1911 named Thelma Catherine.
