Isaac Odell was born in Greenwich, Connecticut in 1696. He subsequently moved to Eastchester, Westchester, NY, where he married Sarah Hoyt about 1722. He then moved on to Cocke Co., TN (stopping at Virginia along the way - at least one of his children, Caleb, married Martha Newman in Frederick Co., VA). He raised his numerous family in Cocke Co. and farmed there. When he was 70 years old, he led a party of people, including 50 grandchildren and great-grandchildren, the Clevenger family and several other families from Cocke Co., on a boat raft up to Ray County, Missouri, where he helped establish a colony and lived until his death in 1763.
