Clay County, Tennessee

Census Records

Since Clay County was not formed until December of 1870, the first Census of Clay County as such was the 1880 Census which is available for $10 (order # 9913) in printed form from Sistler and Associates. The Putnam County Library also has Clay County, Tennessee 1880 United States Census transcribed from the microfilm by Dayton Birdwell. For the time period before the 1880 Census, you will need to check the censuses of Clay County's parent counties, Jackson and Overton.
