Othnal Minter Brassfield (1811 – 1896), born April 25, 1811, in Claiborne County, son of James L. Brassfield & Mary Stulse, married Jane Splawn (born ~1818 in Claiborne County) in February of 1834 in Ray County, MO. Jane was reported to be a niece of Stonewall Jackson, raised on a plantation with slaves.
Othnal Minter Brassfield (1811 – 1896), generally referred to as Major Minter Brassfield, died February 1, 1896 in Goldfield, Wright County, Iowa, a town he founded (originally named Brassfield).
