Captain Albert Hendon Cross’ Tennessee Calvary Company

Spence’s History of Hickman County says a number of men from Hickman County served in this company which was organized by Captain Cross, of Davidson County. A. Duval McNairy, also of Davidson County, was listed as 3rd Lieutenant. No muster rolls of the company were found, but there were several references in the Official Records to attacks by McNairy’s Guerrillas on the line of the Nashville and Northwestern Railroad in 1864. In early 1865, Captain Cross, signing as Cross’ Company, Harvey’s Battalion, Forrest’s Scouts, had some correspondence with the Federal Authorities which led to his surrender at Franklin, Tennessee, on May 15, 1865.
