It is approximately halfway between Nashville and Memphis. The Tennessee General Assembly created Carroll County on 7 November 1821 from the 19 October 1818&nbsp;<a href=\"\/cessions\/18181019.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Great Chickasaw Cession<\/a>. The county is named in honor of Governor William Carroll.
