My Great Grandfather, Charlie Johnson and his mother Ellen Branchcomb, were moved out to I.T. in late 1800’s. It has been repeated from different sources that Charlie and Ellen were Cherokee and Charlie’s father was forced off of land owned in Charleston. When they left, one son was too sick to make the Trail, so he was left behind with the Sims family. Charlie later married Lizzie Kitchen also from Tennessee, and remained in Oklahoma till she died. Charlie had 11 children, one of which is my grandmother Nellie Claire Johnson who spoke Cherokee. I have not been able to find any information on the families other then verbal. Rumor has it that they are related to STARR family as well. Any information that may be given would be greatly appr.

James had a daughter Martha Clarinda (b. 1839)who married Franklin HAYSE\/HAYES in 1865 in Bradley County. \nI am searching for the Thomas Riddle gravesite which my grandmother told me was located 4 miles west of Cleveland, TN before she died. He was born before the Revolutionary war and died August, 1859. He had numerous brothers and sisters and his father was also named Thomas Riddle.
