Scoggins b. 17 July 1839, in McMinn Co., TN; d. 1914, Garland, Dallas Co., TX; bur. Lyons Cemetery, Garland, Dallas Co., TX.&nbsp; James was the son of Burgis &#8220;Bird&#8221; Scoggins, Jr. and Rebecca Gold of Bradley Co., TN, and grandson of Burgis Scoggins, Sr. and Mary &#8220;Polly&#8221; Webb of Rutherford Co., TN.&nbsp; James served as a private, Co. E, 5th Infantry, USA. He was a member of Candies Creek Baptist Church, Bradley County.<br \/>\nJames first married Mary Millburn\/Millwood and had two children:&nbsp; Alice and Matthew Scoggins.&nbsp; James married second Nancy J. Swafford and had issue: Thomas Aaron, Samuel, Lucy, Millie Scoggins.<\/p>\n<p>Thomas Aaron Scoggins, b. 1 Jan. 1873, Bradley County; removed to Garland, Dallas Co., TX, 1900; d. 21 July 1961, Hall Co., TX. He married Caledonia &#8220;Callie&#8221; Ferguson, daughter of Andrew Jackson Ferguson and Lucinda Lane of Bradley County.<\/p>\n<p>Matthew Scoggins, b. 1871, Bradley Co., TN, was the son of James P.
