My ggg-grandfather was James RAGAN, born in 1809 (?) in Lancaster, SC, he died in 1886. He married Elizabeth ? They had numerous children. One being my gg-grandfather, Peter Flemming RAGAN, born January 29,1829. He had a younger brother, W.L.RAGAN, born A
ugust 11, 1842 and died June 8, 1862. We have always been told that there were 4 brother that left VA: two went north, the other two went south. All contact was lost. Peter Flemming married Martha McGARRAH on December 25, 1855 in GA. They moved to MS wh
ere they are buried in the Ragan Cemetery. W.L. is buried there too. The only James RAGAN and Elizabeth that I have been able to find is James RAGAN and Elizabeth BATES that were married in Blount Co, TN. Are they the same? We were told that James and El
izabeth died, leaving Peter Flemming to raise the children.

TIPTON, Meshack/Meshac My ancestor Meshack TIPTON was b. 1759 in MD. His father was Edward TIPTON b. MD who moved to PA. Meshack moved to TN in early 1790's. My ancestor, Eli TIPTON b. 1794 in TN (area now Blount Co.) Meshack lived in the Tuckaleechee Cov
e area. We know he owned land there and have found him on the tax rolls but have not been able to find deed records. Meshack died in 1853 in Blount County at the age of 94 years. Would like to correspond with anyone who has any information on this family.
His wife's first name may have been Hester but not confirmed. Brother was Luke TIPTON b. 1760. Would like to correspond with anyone having information on these families. Related lines were WALKER, McGILL, HIX, DAVIS and possibly HAILE/HALE. Any help woul
