- I am looking for information on the family of
Wm. MAXWELL and wife Mary Ann WOOD who were in
the Benton Co. TN Census in 1870 in the 11th
District which is south of Camden TN and near the
TN River. The family listing included:
William Maxwell 41, Mary 36, Jesse 6, Docia 3,
Susan 1 and Angeline CRAIG 30.
All were born in TN.William Maxwell
sold his property in Benton Co. TN on 12-31-1870
and was not in the 1880 census there.
I am interested in where this family may
have moved because I am researching the family of
Angeline Craig and she disappears from the census
also. I think she may have moved with them.
I find no connection between the 2 families
yet. William's wife was Mary Ann WOOD who first
married W.A. WALKER in 1855 and married Maxwell
in 1863.
In the 1860 Benton Co. TN Census Mary Ann
Walker 23, was in the house of Doranda Wood age
50 born TN with 4 other children Newton 24, Henry
20, Elijah 16, and Indiana 14.

- I have a John Oatsvall(e) who was born about
1900 or perhaps even before, could have a middle
name Mack; because his only daughter was named
Maxine. My grandmother was expecting the baby
before they were born, and she was b. about 1910.
So it was a "shotgun" wedding so to
speak, around 1928/29. He got sick and died when
Maxine was just a baby or toddler. We have never
been able to find out where this man was from,
but he was supposed to be buried in Shady Grove
Cem, Hardin or McNairy Co. TN. I think that is
near Saltillo. Also, I thought he was Indian or
part Indian. But there are so few Oatsvalls in
the Internet. I'm hoping that someone will be
missing this man from their family tree, and we
can hook up.
I have reason to believe,
more and more that he may be from a family of
Oatsvalls that were in Benton Co. Any help here
would be greatly appreciated.

- Looking for ancestors of Mark (Martin)
Franklin born 1 Jan 1800 (1850 Census records for
Butler Co, AL say he was born in TN).
We
know he enlisted in Knoxville to serve in the War
of 1812 (he lied about his age and signed up at
12).
He married Nancy Stapleton in Baldwin Co,
AL 12 Feb 1824 and died in Butler Co, AL 23 Sep
1873. All his children were born in AL and, after
his death, Nancy and most of the children moved
here to LA.
We don't have ANY information on his
parents and I'm looking for suggestions on where
I might go from here.
I've joined the following mailing lists
today and intend to post regarding Mark:
TN-KNOX-L, TN-Jeffer-L, TN-SEVIER-L, ETN-L. and
I'm not through yet.
Any help at all would be appreciated.

- I am trying to obtain anything I can on my
wife's great-grandfather John Monroe Patrick. He
is buried in Big Sandy and was a civil war
veteran of the 55th Tennessee, wounded at the
Battle of Atlanta. He was born February 17, 1842
in Humpries County to John Patrick & Mary
Hudson. He died in Big Sandy on April 18, 1934.
His son was Ocie Odle Patrick, born January 1,
1883, died January 31, 1950. Ocie's daughter Ann
Patrick remembers her grandfather John had a farm
and a general store in Big Sandy. I have his CFA
pension papers and survey he answered about his
experiences. I haven't found him on the 55th Tenn
muster, however. Any information would be
appreciated.

based on 1870 Census. His sister was Isabel, born
abt. 1870. Alvin died in Arkansas 5/17/1941.
