My main line is Anna Jane Malone who in 1860 census of Carroll Co AR is living with a Norwood family. In 1861 She married James Mullins, with a M. Pinkston Justice of Peace, who lived near the Norwood family - this in Carroll Co TN. They must have been near the Carroll/Benton line as several of the men in the same unit of 7th TN CAV USA come from both counties. One was a Higdon who lived near Camden in Benton Co. Also Kilbreath, and Norwoods in this same unit.
Oct 1863 James Mullins and wife Jane had a son born. Spring of 1864 the 7th TN CAV USA was captured and sent on march to Andersonville prison. My ancestor, James Mullins died on the way in a warehouse in Mobile where he is buried in the Union cemetery there. The others made it to Andersonville, but some of them later died. Kilbreath and Norwood in ca 1758 some had left Benton Co TN for Illinois, they were captured about the same time and ended up in Andersonville with their TN relatives.
The survivors of this after the war - around 1870 or so moved to NW Arkansas to VAn Buren County. Seems their leader was Thomas Higdon of Benton Co TN. His first wife was Dolly Thompson who died at beginning of war. He married widow of James Mullins after the war. In Arkansas he built a ferry across the Little Red River and a town grew up from there taking his name.
Anyone working on these Union men in Benton or Carroll Co TN, please contact me. I have not been able to find the family of Jane Malone as yet.
Many of these people were out of NC Dolly Thompson - first wife of Higdon - her mother was a Holland and they were early settlers of Benton Co area, Thanks

Seeking local Berry Family member that wants to give a cousin from out west (me) a hand in tracking down Benton County Berry roots and beyond. I believe I am a descendent of William Berry and Samuel Berry and GGG Nephew of Isaac Galloway Berry and possibly Henry Berry, all of whom were living in Benton County with their familys definitly during the 1840, 1850, and 1860 census. Samuel and son Phrigen with others moved west to Success, Clay County, Arkansas after the Civil War..I will be looking for scans of Family photos, homesites marriage licenses etc....any other documents to help me link up the two groups. I plan to make the trek to Benton myself someday, I understand there is a family cemetary? Called the Berry cemetary?
