The particulars as I can hear them are about as follows: Mr. Gross lived with his son at Danville and last Sunday he was going out to the country on business, and the bottoms being covered with water it was necessary for him to walk along the railroad track, and the supposition is that he fell off of the Danville trestle and was drowned. His disappearance was thought nothing of at first, but finally his relatives becoming alarmed, search was made for him and his body found near Danville, the water having gone down and leaving it. Mr. Gross was to some extent a peculiar man. He was eighty odd years old and never used tobacco in any way, never drank whiskey, had not missed a regular meal in a quarter of a century on account of sickness, never had the headache in his life and was noted for his ambition and pluck.
