At a County Court began and held for the
The Clerk of this Court
presented a settlement Made with J.A. Browning guardian of J.A. Bomar, a Minor which said settlement was examined and
approved by the Court and ordered to be recorded.
On Motion of John W. Johnson who Made oath
according to law and together with him, W.P. Morris his security who appeared
in open Court and entered into and acknowledged the due execution of their bond
in the penal sum of One hundred dollars conditioned as the law directs. It is therefore ordered by the Court that the
said J.W. Johnson have letters of special Administration upon the estate of
Jacob Johnson deceased to be Made out in due form of law when required.
On Motion it is ordered by the Court that William A. Hudson be appointed
overseer of the stage road to work from the Town of Camden to Samuel Crockett,
hands as follows: Samuel Crockett, A.J. Hudson, Spartan Bruce, John Higdon,
James Hudson, Cassee, John W. Hudson, James C.
Wright, Henry Stigall, John T. Presson
and all other hands within these bounds shall work under said Hudson on said
road which is established in the 1st Class.
On Motion it is ordered by the Court that Robertson Reaves be appointed
overseer of the stage road to work from Burnside Creek to Beaverdam
Creek, hands as follows, R.N, Wood, Benjamin Holland, William Farmer, Henry Durdin, Zepheriah Collins, James
Madden, Alfred Aden, Vincent Horn, Daniel L. Settle, Felix Reaves and all other
hands in the bounds shall work under said Robertson Reaves on said road which
is established in the 1st Class.
On Motion it is ordered by the Court that W. K. Perkins, Samuel Madden and
Timothy Reaves be appointed overseer for the purpose of opening a new mill road
from S.C. Aden’s Mill to intersect the Rushing’s
Creek road leading the way of D.P. Hudson’s hands as follows: J.T. Florence, David Norris, M.B. Biggs, Geo.
Hollmark, James B. Morris, B.C. Settle, James R.
Browning, James Alston, R. Rodden, R. Holmes, A.
Herrin, E. Perkins, C.K. Wyly, R.N. Wood, Ephriam Arnold, Joseph Hudson, Henry Durdin,
John M. Petty, R.C. Petty, W.M. Sarrett, Daniel L. Settles,
J.K. Thomas.
On Motion it is ordered by the Court that W.P. Lashlee
be appointed overseer of the stage road in room of A.R. Sykes to work from Beaverdam Creek to the forks of the road near Gates’. And all the hands that formerly worked under
said Sykes in the bounds shall now work under said Lashlee
on said road which is established in the 1st Class.
On Motion it is ordered by the Court that J.G. Taylor be appointed overseer
of the road leading from Willis Rushing to Wyatt's Mill as far as Thos. L. Floyd on said road,
hands as follows; William Cole, Achilles Wilson, Sterling Brewer, L.W. Brewer,
David Busby, Henry Raburn, William Taylor and all
other hands in the bounds shall work under said Taylor on said road which is established in the 2nd
Class.
On Motion of Nathaniel Holmes and James M. Holmes who Made
oath according to law and together with them, Daniel F. McElyea
their security who appeared in open Court and acknowledged the due execution of
their bond in the penal sum of Five hundred dollars conditioned as the law
directs. It is therefore ordered by the
Court that they have letters of Administration upon the estate of Robert Holmes
deceased to be Made out in due form of law when required.
On Motion it is ordered by the Court that John Penick
be appointed overseer of the road to work from
Personally appeared in open Court Amos Bruce, Trustee of Benton County and
together with him James M. Camp and James Wyly, his
securities, who appeared in open Court and entered into and acknowledged their
bond in the penal sum of Eighteen hundred dollars for the purpose of drawing the
common school fund from the Treasurer of the State conditioned as the law
directs.
Personally appeared in open Court A.W.C. Methany,
Administrator of James Daniel deceased and returned the sale bill of the
property of said estate and oath being Made to the
same. It is ordered by the Court to be
recorded.
Personally appeared in open Court, Leonard H. Pope who was this day chosen
and appointed guardian of Fanny Morris a Minor orphan of said County and
together with him John F. Johnson and Laton Pearce
his securities who appeared in open Court and entered into and acknowledged
their bond in the penal sum of one hundred & forty dollars conditioned as
the law directs.
Personally appeared in open Court Wm. J. Greer, Constable of the 7th
Civil District of Benton County and tendered his resignation to the Court which
was received and it is ordered by the Court that the Sheriff proceed forthwith
to open and hold an election to fill said vacancy.
Court then adjourned until Court in Course.
