At a County Court began and held for
the County of Benton at the Courthouse in the Town of Camden on the first
Monday in November, it being the 2nd day of said Month in the year of our Lord
One thousand eight hundred & forty six and 71st year of American
Independence. There being present and
presiding on the bench the worshipfuls, Esqrs. (to wit) E. Perkins, J.K.
Thomas and Nathan Williams.
The Clerk of this Court presented a
settlement Made with Thomas King guardian of John F. Morris which said
settlement was examined and approved by the Court and ordered to be recorded.
The Clerk of this Court presented a
settlement Made with Leonard H. Pope guardian of Fanny Morris which settlement
was examined and approved by the Court and ordered to be recorded.
The Clerk of this Court presented a
settlement Made with Mary Swift guardian of the Minor heirs of Harvy Swift, Sr. deceased which said settlement was
examined and approved by the Court and ordered to be recorded.
The Clerk of this Court presented a
settlement Made with Hardy Hansel, Administrator of the Estate of James Hansel,
deceased which said settlement was examined and approved by the Court and
ordered to be recorded.
The Clerk of this Court presented a
settlement Made with Samuel B. Pearce administrator of the Estate of John
Morris decd. which said settlement was examined and approved by the Court and
ordered to be recorded.
On Motion it is ordered by the Court
that John H. Williams, William D. Wiseman, Milton Wiseman, Mathew Presson, John Watson, Samuel Presson
and Thomas Presson be appointed a Jury of Review to
view and Mark a road leading from the Town of Camden to Travis’ Bridge on Sandy
River and to make report to the Next term of this Court of the advantages and
disadvantages to the public and individuals.
On Motion it is ordered by the Court that Jesse W. Elmore be appointed
overseer of the road to work from Lewis Cross’ to the Carroll County line and
all the hands that formerly worked under Robert Swift on said road or in the
bounds shall work under Elmore on said road which is established in the 1st
Class.
On Motion it is ordered by the Court that George Moore be appointed overseer of the road leading from Willis Rushing’s to Wyatt’s Mill as far as Thomas L. Floyd’s old place, hands as follows; William Cole, Archiens Wilson, Sterling Brewer, L.W. Brewer, Henry Raburn, William Taylor, and all other hands in the bounds shall work under said Moore on said road which is established in the 2nd Class.
On Motion it is ordered by the Court that John T. Winnfrey be appointed overseer of the road to work from Chalk Level to Little Birdsong and all the hands North and East of said Creek in the bounds shall work under said Winnfrey on said road which is established in the 2nd Class.
On Motion it is ordered by the Court that Emzold Howe be appointed overseer of the road to work from Little Birdsong to Darby’s old place and all the hands south and west of said Creek in the bounds shall now work under said Howe on said road which is established in the 2nd Class.
The Clerk of this Court presented a settlement with R.W. Rowe, executor of the last Will and testament of William Walker deceased which said settlement was examined and approved by the Court and ordered to be recorded.
On Motion it is ordered by the Court that Wm. L. Lashlee,
Joseph Sarrett, Daniel L. Settles, James Sykes, Lewis
Lashlee and W.M. Sarratt be
appointed a Jury of Review to view and Mark an alteration in the
On Motion it is ordered by the Court that Wm. P. Lashlee be appointed overseer of the stage road to work from Beaverdam Creek to the forks of the road opposite Wm. C. Holmes, hands as follows; David Settles hands, B.C. Settles, James Sykes, Lewis Lashlee, Peyton S. Lashlee, Jackson Durden, Wm. Durden, Thomas Durdon, Nelson Sarrett, Hyram Johnson, J.A. Fedrick, Zecheriah Goforth and all other hands in the bounds shall work under said Wm. P. Lashlee on said road which is established in the 1st Class.
Personally appeared in open Court John Gossett guardian of the Minor heirs of James Malin deceased and together with him J.J. Rodgers, R.H. Hawthorn and J.W.P. Lewis his securities who appeared in open Court and acknowledged the due execution of their bond in the penal sum of Five hundred dollars conditioned as the law directs.
