At a County Court began and held for the
The Clerk of this Court presented a settlement Made with Zacheriah
Nash, administrator of the estate of Arisa Nash
deceased which said settlement was examined and approved by the Court and
ordered to be recorded.
The Clerk of this Court presented a settlement Made by Nathan Williams and Borrell Beard, revenue Commissioners with Amos Bruce,
Trustee of Benton County for the year 1845 which said settlement was examined
and approved by the Court and ordered to be recorded.
On Motion it is ordered by the Court that Whightman
Jordan be appointed overseer of the road to work from Lilly Crocket’s to the
Creek the other side of Samuel B. Pearce’s, hands as follows; Littleberry Pearce, Darling Pearce, Thomas Kee, John House, F.W.
Pearce, Ansel Pearce, James Holland and all
other hands in the bounds shall work under said
On Motion it is ordered by the Court that John H. Williams be appointed
overseer of the stage road in room of William Stewart to work from Lewis
Cross’s the 13 Mile tree, hands as follows; John Watson, Samuel Presson, William Bonds, Freeman Presson,
Wm. P. Thorington, Hudson Taylor, Joseph Pickler, Lewis Cross, John Davenport, William Greer,
William Stewart, Thomas Higdon, James Smith and other hands in the bounds shall
work under said Williams on said road which is established in the 1st
Class.
On Motion it is ordered by the Court that Nelson Pearce be appointed overseer
of the road in room of Albert Aden to work from the Creek Near Samuel Pearce’s
to Leonard H. Pope, hands as follows; L. H. Pope, Geo. W. Kilbreath,
Albert Aden, Josiah Forester, John Marchbanks, Giles Marchbanks, Ruffin Jordan, Mashack
Dean and all hands in the bounds shall work under said Pearce on said road
which is established in the 2nd Class.
On Motion it is ordered by the Court that Wm. K. Perkins, Simeon Higdon, William
A. Steel, Timothy Reaves, Allen T. Corbit, S.V. Aden
and Samuel Madden be appointed a jury of review to view and Mark a Mill road
from S.V. Adams’ Mill to intersect the road leading from the Town of Camden to Rushing’s Creek by the way of D.P. Hudson’s and to make
report to the next term of this Court of the advantages and disadvantages to
the public and to individuals.
On Motion it is ordered by the Court that the Sheriff proceed to open and
hold an election in the 8th Civil District of Benton County for the
purpose of electing a Justice of the peace in said District to fill the vacancy
occasioned by the removal of Thomas L. Floyd, Esqr. from said District.
Personally appeared in open Court Malcom Beaton, Administrator of the Estate of Christopher Beaton deceased and returned an Inventory and account of
the sale of the property of said estate and oath having been Made
to the same it is ordered by the Court to be removed.
James J. Fanner appeared in open Court and proved by his own oath that he
had killed a wolf in the limits of Benton County and produced the scalp thereof
to the Court which was adjudged by the Court to be over the age of four months,
which said scalp was ordered by the Court to be burned or destroyed by the
Sheriff and it is ordered by the Court that the Clerk certify the same as the law
directs.
On Motion it is ordered by the Court that Samuel Corbitt,
Andrew Hudson, John Higdon, James Hudson and John Hudson work on the new road
under James Wright as overseer of said road in addition to his former
hands. Also Marcellus Cain and John Presson, William H. Presson,
Franklin Armor.
On Motion it is ordered by the Court that James Wright be appointed overseer
of the Paris road to work from the Town of Camden to Oliver Armor’s, hands as
follows: William Watson, Oliver Armor, William
Armor, Robert Armor, John T. Presson Sr., Henry Stigall, Samuel Crockett, Wm. A. Hudson, John Higdon, James
G. Hudson, John H. Hudson, Marcellus Cain, John Presson,
Wm. H. Presson, B.F. Armor, and all other hands in
the bounds shall work under said Wright on said road which is established in the
1st Class.
