At a County Court began and held for the County of Benton at the Court house in the Town of Camden on the first Monday in February it being the 5th day of the Month in the year of our Lord one thousand eight-hundred & forty four and the 68th year of American Independence there being present and presiding on the bench the worshipfuls, Esquires D.P. Hudson Chairman Burrel Beard and Elijah Alsop.
Personally appeared in open Court David Brewer administrator of the Estate of Daniel Brewer deceased who returned an inventory of the sale of the property of said Estate and oath having been Made thereto it is ordered by the Court to be recorded.
Personally appeared in open Court Samuel B. Pearce Administrator of the Estate of John Morris deceased who returned his inventory and sale bill of said estate and oath having been Made thereto it is ordered by the Court to be entered of Record.
Personally appeared in open Court Wilson M. Sarrett & Amos Bruce administrators of the Estate of Mary Serrett deceased with the will of John Serrett deceased annexed and returned their inventory of the property of said estate and oath having been Made thereto it is ordered by the Court to be recorded.
There was produced in open Court a Commission from his Excellency the governor James C. Jones Commissioning Jordan G. Sims a Justice of the peace for Benton County whereupon the said J.P. Sims appeared in open Court and took an oath to support the Constitution of the United States and of the State of Tennessee.
An Oath against duelling and also the oath of office.
On Motion it is ordered by the Court that William Stewart be appointed overseer of the stage road in room of Hudson Taylor to work from Lewis Cross's to the 13 Mile Tree and hands as follows (viz) William Wiseman, John Watson, Samuel Presson, Freeman Presson, William Bonds, William P. Thorington, Hudson Taylor, Oliver Armer, Joseph Pickler, Lewis Cross, John Davenport and William Greer shall work under the said Stewart on said road which is established in the 1st Class.
The Clerk of this Court presented a settlement Made with A.C. Presson administrator of the estate of William Presson deceased which said settlement was examined and approved by the Court and ordered to be recorded.

The Clerk of this court presented a settlement Made with Samuel B. Pearce, Administrator of the Estate of William Lee Deceased which said settlement was examined & concurred in by the Court and ordered to be recorded.
The Clerk of this Court presented a settlement Made with L.H. Pope, Administrator of the Estate of Simon Pope deceased which said settlement was examined and approved by the Court and ordered to be recorded.
The Clerk of this Court presented a settlement Made with Charles H. Thompson one of the administrators of the Estate of Wiggin Colier deceased which said settlement was examined and approved by the Court and ordered to be recorded.
On Motion it is ordered by the Court that Rufus Mullinix be appointed overseer of the road from James Wyly's to the forks of the road at Hatleys branch and all the hands that formerly worked under Eli Hatley as overseer shall now work under the said Mullinix with this addition (viz) Edward Hatley Charles Oatsvall, James Shirley, Sharles Danlton and all other hands in the bounds shall work under said hands in the bounds shall work under said Mullinix on said road which is established in the 2nd Class.
The Clerk of this Court presented an Inventory of the property of William Howe deceased which was certified and sent to him by Catherine Howe administatrix of said Estate which is ordered by the Court to be recorded.
On Motion it is ordered by the Court that Jonathan Jordan be appointed ovreseer of the Lexington road beginning at the Town of Camden and to work to Lilly Crocker's and the following hands to work under said Jordan (viz) John T. Holland, Granville Davenport, L. Crocker, William Davidson, Charles H. Williams shall work under the said Jordan on said Road which is established in the 2nd Class.
On Motion it is ordered by the Court that Zephemiah Collins be appointed overseer of the stage road to work from the Town of Camden to Beaverdam Creek hands as follows (viz) Benjamin Hardy, Daniel Holland, Alford Aden, Benjamin Holland, William Farrow, A.R. Barnes, C. M. Serratt, Anderson McGill, James Madden, Richard N. Woods, Henry Durdin, J.R. Thomas, William Cullum, Samuel Crockett, Joshua Jusco, Nelson Sarratt, and all other hands in the bounds shall work under said Collins on said road which is established in the 1st Class.
On Motion it is ordered by the Court that Edward Lindsey appointed overseer of the road to work from Sugar Creek to the top of the Ridge south of Esqr. Wyatts hands as follows (viz) his own hands Daniel Graham, Aron Clement and Thomas Pittle work under said Lindsey on said road which is established in the 3rd Class.
On Motion it is ordered by the Court that Calaway Melton be appointed overseer of the road from Sandy River below Wyatt's Mill to the widow McKenzey's hands as follows (viz) Edward Smith, Mathew Melton, Malcomb Beaton, Laughtin Beaton, John W. Cooper, The Widow McKenseys sons, John, Foy, Author Pitt, William Nash, Stephen Nash, Robert Graham, Chesterfield Melton, A. McRae, Hiram Pearce, Jackson Greer, Thomas Colier and all other hands in the bounds shall work under the said Melton and the said road which is established in the 2nd Class.
On Motion of Obediah Bullock who Made oath according to law and together with him William W. Wheatly his security who appeared in open Court and Entered into and acknowledged their bond in the penal sum of two hundred dollars conditioned as the law directs it is therefore ordered by the Court that the said Obediah Bullock have letters of administration on the Estate of Milly Nobles deceased to be Made out in due form of law when required.
On Motion it is ordered by the Court that Zechariah Nash a Minor, aged one year be bound unto James Colier until he arrives to the age of Twenty one years during which time said Colier is to furnish said Minor with Necessary clothing & Co. and when he arrives at age he is to teach, instruct and give the property specified in the bond whereupon the said James Colier together with James Yarbrough appeared in open Court and acknowledged themselves indebted to D.P. Hudson Chairman of our said Court in said Indention Condition as the law directs.
Court then adjourned until Court in Course.
