Hugh Alsup (son of Samuel Alsup & Susan ____) born 1808, probably Stewart Co. TN and died 1885 at Big Sandy, TN. Hugh had 6 known siblings; Elijah Alsup (1810-1868), m. Catherine Buchanan; Drucilla Alsup (1814-1899), m. Daniel G. Buchanan; James Alsup (1816-1885), 1 m. Unknown, 2m. Hannah_____, 3 m. Martha P. Bloodworth, and 4 m. Mrs. Martha Bell Bush; Joseph Alsup (1821-1884), m. Barbara ______. Miss Alsup (1823-1845), m. As first wife of Robert Graham; and David Alsup (1827-1897), 1 m. Abby Nash, 2m. Caroline L. Graham.

Hugh Alsup m. Mar. 10 1827 in Henry Co. TN., Nancy Brewer (daughter of Benjamin Brewer & Lydia Nolan (d). Nancy died Jan. 18, 1858 in Big Sandy, TN. And Hugh m. As his 2nd wife, Mrs. Lucy Cole Bush, widow of Malakiah B. Bush, sometime before 1860.

Hugh Alsup & Nancy Brewer had the following children:

Sterling Alsup (1828-1868), m. Celia Jane Reddick; Thomas Alsup (1830), m. Margaret Drucilla C. McAuly. Thomas is believed to have died in the Civil War;
A son was born in 1832, that died young; James Nolin Alsup (1834-1909), m. (1) Martha "Patsy" Cole and (2) Nancy T. Floyd; Burwell Washington Alsup (1837-1917), m. Rebecca Jane Wilson; William Elijah Alsup (1839-1878), m. Catherine Susan Buchanan; Lydia Jane Alsup (1841). She was still living at Big Sandy, TN in 1910, m. Joseph L. Mannon; Hugh Lawson Alsup (1843-1864), died of measles in the Civil War at Johnsonville, TN (not married); and Joseph Alsup (1845-1864), died of Measles in Civil War at Johnsonville, TN (not married).

James Nolan Alsup (son of Hugh Alsup & Nancy Brewer), born Jun 21, 1834, Henry Co., TN died Dec 4, 1909 at Big Sandy, TN. He married (1) Sept 14, 1854, Martha "Patsy" Cole (dau of Joseph & Elizabeth "Lizzie" Powell). She was born 1834 and died 1893. James N. Alsup married (2) Oct 19 1894, Nancy T. Floyd (dau of Thomas Lee Floyd & Anne Elizabeth Brewer). No issue of 2nd wife. Martha Cole m. (1) Wade Busby and had 1 girl, Susan Busby, born 1852, found on some records as Susan Alsup.

Sidney L. Medlock; David Cole Alsup (1863), m. (1) Luanna Jane Spence, (2) Mrs. Sarah Ann Mc Campbell; John Burwell Alsup (1865-1923), m. (1) Sally Cimbal, (2) Martha Elizabeth "Betty" Bond; William Riley Alsup (1867-1895), m. Martha Ann Holland; and Joseph Monroe Alsup (1869-1948), m. Jessie Jane Joplin.

John Stephen "Tobe" Medlock (son of Samuel S. Medlock & Rebecca Ellis) born Oct 25 1834 Henry Co. TN died Mar 27 1922 in Big Sandy, TN; m. Louisa Mariah Powell (dau of Allanson Powell, Jr. & Margaret Culpepper).

Children: Caldonia Powell (dau of Louisa M. Powell) 1853-1928, m. (1) Benjamin Franklin Alsup, (2) William M. Baker, and (3) Dallas Wommack; John Stephen "Bud" Medlock, 1855, died as a teenager by being thrown by a horse; Margaret E. Medlock (1857), m. (1) Benjamin Franklin McFadden, (2) Frank M. Dunning; James Samuel Medlock (1859-1933), m. Hannah Louise Wood; Nancy Ann Medlock (1862), m. Marcellus Archie Bedwell; Sidney LieuElla Medlock (1864-1952), m. Elijah "Doc" Alsup; Martha Ann Medlock (1866-1953), m. John Daniel "Bud" Brewer, William H. "Billy" Medlock (1868), m. (1) P.H. Smith, (2) Mrs. Ida Beaton Rushing; Mary Ada Bell "Mollie" Medlock (1870-1925), m. Thomas Yancy Robbins, Sr.; Thomas Jefferson "Jeff" Medlock (1874), died as a child; and Sophronia "Fronnie" Medlock (1878), m. Luna O. Haggard.

William E. Wyatt (b. 1873, d. 1928) md. Kate Garner (b. 1885, d, 1954).

Bill Wyatt as he was known was the second child of a family of ten children. His parents H.L. and Mary Alsup Wyatt, were raised in the Bakers Chapel Community and lived there until moving to Camden.

He was a school teacher teaching many schools in Benton Co. It is believed the first school he taught was "Dawn" school, being just north of White Rd. Between 69N. And Baker's Chapel Rd. Also Barnes, Cedar Grove, Carpenters, Bakers Chapel, Sulpher Creek. He taught in the first school house on Harmon's Creek. Married Kate Garner and out of this union eight children were born.

Ethelene married to Theron B. Cochren and had three children: Joseph "Joe" married Odelle Nunnery and had one child; Louise married J. Wendell Bain, had 2 children; Thomas "Tom" married Lorene Bond, had two children; Elbert "Jimmie" married Vonell Kirk, two children; John and David were twins. John married Dora Jean Smith, had two children; David "Dick" married Margaret Manning; Eltie married Geo. Lindell Bain, had one child.

Bill Wyatt was Register of Deeds in 1914. He moved to Camden in 1914 to serve in that office until 1922. He was elected Trustee, 1926-1928. He is interred in the Baker's Chapel Cemetery. He has 13 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren.

Harvey Lafayette Wyatt, son of John Wyatt and Frances Jane Lindsey Wyatt, was born 1850, died unexpectedly in the town of Big Sandy in 1926. He was the grandson of Edward and Rachel Murphy Lindsey.

Harvey Lafayette (known as "Doc" to his family and friends) married Mary Isabell Alsup (1852-1893), daughter of David and Caroline Alsup. Their children: John David (Jack), William E., Mary Ada, Harvey Lafayette, Jesse Eli, Robert Allen, Minnie Belle, Virgil Lee, James Water, Charles Eugene, Alma.

John David (Jack) 1871-1928 married (1) Addie Thompson, (2) Tennie Wyatt.

William E. 1873-1928 married Aug 9, 1903 to Kate Garner.

Mary Ada 1875-1963 married Mar 20 1985 to Asa Cherry.

Harvey Lafayette, born 1877, married Sarah Belle French on Nov 29 1899.

Jesse Eli born 1879 died 1880.

Robert Allen, 1880-1947, married Seville Henderson.

Minnie Belle, 1882-1966, married Jun 23 1903 to William Sterling Rayborn.

Virgil Lee, born Mar 1885, married Rachel Crenshaw.

James Walter, 1889-1959, married (1) Beesie McCullough, (2) Edna Jerimiah.

Charles Eugene, 1890-1973, married (1) Ruby Craig, (2) Ruby Pafford, (3) Lilly Atchison French.

Alma, born Jan 9, 1893, married Aug 10, 1913 to Grover Thurman Vick.

Harvey Lafayette was a farmer and lived in the Big Sandy area. He was the third child of six children of John and Frances jane Lindsey Wyatt. The other children were: William, Jesse, Esmerilda, Simeon and Isadora.

John Wyatt and William Caraway were partners in a merchantile establishment, the business known as Wyatt and and Caraway, had stock of about $4,300.

Horace W. Akers was born Nov. 1, 1868, the son of James M. Akers (b. 1849, d. 1916) and Nancy E. Snider (b. 1844, d June 22, 1896). Married 29 Oct 1865 in Benton County.

Horace W. Was married 26 Dec 1887 to Ada B. Nance (b. 1871) daughter of G.M. Nance and wife? (Name unknown). Their children were: Roy, Elizabeth, Arlene, and Doss.

Roy was born 10 Oct 1888, married Bessie Ezell (b. 1888) on May 24 1908. They were the parents of; Earl, born Jan 10, 1910; Jewel born 28 Nov 1911; Carl, born 2 Mar 1914; Walter, born 17 Jun 1916; Christine, born 29 Jan 1919; James Fred, born July 9, 1921; Mary, born Feb. 27, 1923; Thomas, born 19 Sep 1925; Dorothy, born 10 Dec 1927; and Imogene, born Dec 26, 1929.

Earl married Ruth Lindsey. He died on 12 May 1948, in Glasgow KY results of trucking accident.

Jewell married Margie Johnson. He was employed in Detroit, MI and Chicago IL. After he retired he returned to Faxon, TN where he and his wife now live.

Carl died in Detroit, MI 24 Mar 1981. He was employed as a factory worker for 25 years. He was buried in Michigan.

Walter married Mary Ann Lindsey on 15 Jan 1939. He now lives int he Big Sandy area.

Christine married Hillard Robbins on Dec. 24 1937. After Hillard retired from the railroad, they returned to Benton Co. And bought a house near Big Sandy. Hillard died 19 Aug 1979 and is buried in Crooked Creek Cemetery.

James Fred died 15 Aug, 1923, drowned in the Tennessee River.

Mary married Tharon K. Robbins on 21 Feb 1941.

Thomas was an employee of the railroad and died in Memphis, TN on 26 Jul 1975. Dorothy married Bill Alexander, and Imogene married Everett Byrd.

Roy worked for the railroad and the telephone Co. Before becoming a farmer in 1920. Roy died in 1956 and Bessie died in 1965. They are buried in Crooked Creek Cemetery in Benton Co.

Elizabeth married James Thomas Marshall, Buried at McRae's Chapel Cemetery.

Alene married Ed Cantrell. They have two daughters, Ann and Beth.

Doss married ? Thompson

Horace worked on the L&N Railroad and kept boarders on camp cars. After retirement from the railroad, he operated a hardware store for many years in Big Sandy. He was a Mason. He died in 1957, Ada B. Died in 1942, she was a member of the Eastern Star. They are buried at McRae's Chapel Cemetery, near Big Sandy, Tennessee.
