Funeral services for Byron Wayne Cartwright age 88, of Shelbyville, who died this morning at Bedford County Medical Center, will be at 1;30 p.m. Sunday at Hillcrest Funeral Home. The Rev. William Cartwright and the Rev. Jon Bell will officiate and burial will follow in Willow Mount Cemetery.

A native of Bedford County, he was the husband of the late Gladys Ann Wade Cartwright and the son of the late Jacob Thomas and Martha Jane Damron Cartwright. He served three years as a city building inspector, two and a half years as a city manager and two years as a mayor. He was a member of First United Methodist Church.

Survivors include a daughter, Judith Ann Cartwright Whiteside of Marietta, Ga.; a sister, Ellen Love Warren of Knoxville; two grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Visitation with the family will be 5-8 p.m. Saturday at Hillcrest Funeral Home.

James Ray Wilkerson

Funeral services for James Ray Wilkerson, 75 of Shelbyville, who died Wednesday at his home after an extended illness, will be held 2 p.m. Saturday at Hillcrest Funeral Home. The Rev Randall Harmon and Steve Lynn will officiate and burial will follow in Willow Mount Cemetery.

A native of Stevenson, Ala., he was the husband of Jennifer Lyles Wilkerson of Shelbyville, who survives, and the son of the late Joseph Wheeler and Willie Mae Hoosier Wilkerson. He was a retired employee of Empire Pencil Co. (now Sanford Corp.); a U.S. Army veteran of World War II; a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Loyal Order of the Moose.

He attended Eastview Baptist Chruch.

Survivors in addition to his wife include two sons, Mike Wilkerson of Christmas, Fla., and David Wilkerson of Birmingham, Ala; a daughter Judy Lynn of Tullahoma; two stepdaughters, Christine Diaz of Salt Lake City, Utah, and Stephanie Bingham of Nashville; a sister Jewell Privett of Stevenson Ala; a brother, Glen Wilkerson of Stevenson, Ala; 10 grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchildren.

Visitation with the family will be 4-9 p.m. today and 4 - 9 p.m. Friday.
