Mrs. Julia A. Crick, 93, died Tuesday, Jan 17, 1939 at her home near Halls Mill. Funeral services were conducted at the Kingdom Cumberland Presbyterian Church, Wednesday, by Rev. W. H. Gentry, followed by burial in the Cothran cemetery. Mrs. Crick was one of the most highly esteemed and beloved citizens of her community and she will be greatly missed by a host of relatives and friends. She is survived by one daughter, Mrs. E. C. Carlton of Rover; two sons, J. E. Crick of Hall's Mill and W. T. Crick of Rover; two sisters, Mrs. Mary Lamb of Nashville, and Mrs. Caroline Mincy of Unionville; 31 grandchildren; 145 great grandchildren and 60 great, great grandchildren.
Funeral services for Houston Haynes, 71, who died Sunday morning at the local hospital were held Monday at 3 p.m. at the home at Poplin's Cross Roads, conducted by Rev. Sandusky of Rover. Burial was in the Jones cemetery near the home.
Mr. Hayes was a member of the Zion Hill Methodist Church and held in high regard by all who knew him.
Survivors are his wife; Mrs. Dean Jones Haynes; two daughters, Miss Rose Haynes of York, Pa.; and Miss Arpie Haynes of Nashville; three sons, William Allen Hynes of New Orleans, La., Roy Haynes of Chapel Hill, and John Bell Haynes of Poplin's Cross Roads; one brother, Mark Haynes both of Unionville community, and several grandchildren.
Solon L. Landers, 90 retired Business man and farmer died suddenly Monday
morning at 5:30 o'clock at his home near Longview.
Mr. Landers had been in declining health for some time but his death was
unexpected.
He was well and favorably known throughout this section.
Surviving are four daughters, Mrs. Herbert Hastings and Mrs. Carl Sutton of Nashville, Mrs. William Smotherman of Murfreesboro, Mrs. Joe Robert Turner of Shelbyville, Mrs. Joe Robert Turner of Shelbyville; three
sons, Lee Landers of Eldrodo Ill., W. A. Landers of Shelbyville and Sam Landers who
resided with him; one sister, Mrs. Tish Harrison of Normandy and several grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the home, Rev. C.I. Kelly of Unionville officiating. Burial was in Willow Mount cemetery.
Rites for Mrs. Marlin Prince, 57, who died of a heart attack Monday morning at her home near Bell Buckle, were conducted Tuesday afternoon by Elder Clyde Gleaves at the Bell Buckle Church of Christ. Burial was in the Bedford cemetery at Bedford. She is survived by her husband, Marlin Prince; five daughters, Mrs. Boyd Hooten of Bedford; Mrs. Robert Taylor of Eagleville; Mrs. Drennan Pruitt, Mrs. James Spence and Miss Rebecca Prince, all of Bell Buckle; ten grand children, two sisters and five brothers. Mrs. Prince a native of Bedford, had resided in Bell Buckle for ten years. She was a devout member of the Bell Buckle Church of Christ.
Mrs. Eliza Stewart Reed, 84, of Belfast died Sept 22. Funeral at Bedford on the 24th by Rev. Rich and burial was in the Reed cemetery.
She leaves a son, Dr. Will Reed, who has been with her all the time, a daughter, Mrs. Annie Reed Himes, a great granddaughter, Mrs. Jimmy Dillard and two grandsons. Also surviving are a niece, Mrs. Edna Woodard; a nephew, Jim Kellar both of whom she reared when their mother died may years ago.
Funeral services for Mrs. Mary Loyd Reed, wife of the late Bill Reed, who died Thursday night at her home on the Horse Mountain road were conducted Friday afternoon at the Church of Christ, Elder A. R. Hill officiating, assisted by H. Leo Boles, evangelist. Burial was in Willow Mount Cemetery.
She is survived by two sons, John and Dock Reed; three daughters Miss Yvonne Reed, Mrs. Red Stewart and Mrs. Ernest Reed Barrett; three step sons, John, Tom and Hutton Reed, two step-daughters, Mrs. N. T. Gregory and Mrs. R. C. Overcast of Shelbyville.

God saw fit to call another one of His early travelers to His Eternal
Home, so he called Thomas Reed a good Christian man. May God protect and guide
Mr. Reed's companion and children that they may meet him.
Thomas O Reed, 62, died Friday, at 7:30 p.m., at the local hospital where he had been for more than two months suffering with dropsy.
Mr. Reed was a patient and uncomplaining patient, radiating cheerfulness and a Christian fortitude through out his entire illness. All who came in contact with him felt the better for having known him. He was a faithful member of the Himesville Nazarene church where the funeral was held Saturday at 2 p.m., Rev. E. C. Dees and Rev. E. H. Stout Conducting. Burial was in the New Hope cemetery.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Ivy Brown Reed, their daughters, Mrs. Paul Clay, Miss Margaret Reed, Miss Marie Reed, Miss Christine Reed, Miss Louise Reed; sons, Lewis Raymond and Lonnie Reed, and several grandchildren, all of this county. By his first wife, the late Mrs. Ruth Woosley Reed, there were three children, Mrs. Houston Sudberry, Carl Reed and Guy Reed.
Funeral services for W. Lee Reed, 76, who died Thursday at his home in the Longview community were held at the home Friday morning at 11 o'clock, Rev. Neal Graves, Primitive Baptist minister of Eagleville, officiating. Burial was in the Finney Cemetery.
Mr. Reed had been ill for several months. He is survived by three sons, Brooks, John L., and Howard, and six grandchildren.
Passes At Home Here Mrs. Hattie Green Rice, 81, wife of the late Chas. N. Rice, Sr., died at her home here Friday at 2 p.m. following a few days of critical illness though she had been in declining health for some time. Mrs. Rice was a member of a prominent pioneer family of this county, the daughter of the late B. G. and Selina Green. She had spent her entire life in this section where she had a large circle of friends and acquaintances. She was a woman of many fine traits of character and was interested in civic and religious activities of the community. She had been a member of the Christian Church since youth. Surviving are two sons, Chas. N. Rice of Shelbyville, and Floyd Rice of Oklahoma City, Okla; two grand children, Charlotte Rice of Shelbyville and Floyd Rice of Okla; one brother, Sam E. Green of Shelbyville. Funeral services were held at the residence Saturday afternoon, Rev. E. J. Barnett, pastor of the First Christian Church officiating. Burial was in Willow Mount cemetery.
Funeral services of Miss Fannie (Dump) Thompson, 82, who died at her home here Thursday night at ten o'clock, were held at the residence Sunday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock, the Rev. B.E. Duns, her pastor, and Rev. N.J. Warren officiating. Burial was in Willow Mount Cemetery. Miss Thompson was the daughter of the late Joseph H. Thompson, and Mrs. Mary Myers Thompson, members of the most prominent pioneer families of this county. Mr. Thompson was an intimate friend of President. Andrew Johnson. Miss Thompson was affectionately known as "Miss Dump" to a large circle of friends through out this section and elsewhere having made many of these friends as a clerk for several prominent business firms formerly located here and through her church and civic activities. Her father, a forceful and intelligent writer, was editor of the Shelbyville Gazette for may years and she never ceased her in the advancement of this newspaper until her dying days. She was a brilliant woman, public-spirited and ever loyal to her friends. She had been an active member of the D.A.R. she was the oldest member of the local Baptist Church, having united with the church in early girlhood. Miss Thompson had led such an active life and was so young looking for her age, it was a distinct shock to her many friends when she was taken ill last spring, gradually growing weaker until the end came. She loved life and was ever appreciative of the best in life. Survivors are her brother, Dr. Stanley Thompson, who resided with her three nieces, Mrs. James Tipton, Mission Texas; Mrs. George Edwin Jones, New Brittain, Conn; Miss Mary Arthur Thompson, Redland, Calif; two nephews, Joe and Stanley Thompson, Jr. Redland, Calif., and several cousins. Active pall bearers were Dr. T.F. Bates, Fred Nance, J. E. Penn, Cloay Peebles, Ab Mullins, and D. L. Jacobs; honorary pall bearers were J.C. Tune, Dr. T. R. Ray, Dr. S.S. Moody, W. P. Cooper, I.. L. Power and Clarence Cortner.
Funeral services for Mrs. E. W. Waddy, 77 who died Monday at 1 A.M., were held Tuesday morning at 10:30, at the Hoover Funeral Home, Rev. J. W. Roberts officiating Burial was in Palmetto Cemetery.
Mrs. Roberts was a devoted member of the Methodist church, and was loved by a large circle of friends and relatives. She resided with her daughter, Mrs. Sam Moore and Mr. Moore. Other surviving are another daughter, and a son Jack Waddy.
