College in 1839; studied law at Harvard University; was admitted to the bar and commenced practice in Shelbyville, Bedford County, Tenn., in 1841; member of the State house of representatives in 1849; presidential elector on the Constitutional Union ticket in 1860; Union delegate to the State constitutional convention of 1861; again elected to the State house of representatives but in 1865 resigned; upon the readmission of the State of Tennessee to representation was elected as a Unionist to the Thirty-ninth Congress and served from July 24, 1866, to March 3, 1867; unsuccessful candidate for reelection to the Fortieth Congress; appointed by President Johnson Assistant Secretary of the Treasury November 20, 1867, and served until March 20, 1869; resumed the practice of law at Shelbyville and died there July 21, 1911; interment in Willow Mount Cemetery.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 10pt; font-family: 'book antiqua', palatino, serif;\"><b>Page 1 &#8211; Deaths<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 10pt; font-family: 'book antiqua', palatino, serif;\">John Hobart Stephens, youngest child of Daniel and Margaret Stephens, and brother of Mrs. Mary E. Stephens came to his death whilst bathing in Duck River near Shelbyville, May 22, 1857. Aged 17 years, 10 months, &amp; 4 days.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 10pt; font-family: 'book antiqua', palatino, serif;\">Sarah F. Cooper, wife of Ernest B. Cooper, died Oct 1, 1905.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 10pt; font-family: 'book antiqua', palatino, serif;\">Horace S. Cooper, eldest child of Edmund Cooper &amp; Mary E. Cooper, died February 10th, 1907.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 10pt; font-family: 'book antiqua', palatino, serif;\">Sue W. Cooper, wife of Edmund Cooper, Jr., died April 17, 1909.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 10pt; font-family: 'book antiqua', palatino, serif;\">Sally Ann Cooper Hoyt died January 11th, 1925.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 10pt; font-family: 'book antiqua', palatino, serif;\">Mrs. Mary E. Cooper died January 21, 1863 at her home in Shelbyville &#8211; after a long and painful illness. She put her whole trust in the Lord &#8211; and died happy in the Christian faith.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 10pt; font-family: 'book antiqua', palatino, serif;\">Edmund Cooper died July 21st, 1911. Aged 89 years, 10 months &amp; 10 days.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 10pt; font-family: 'book antiqua', palatino, serif;\">Edmund Cooper died April 24th, 1924, aged 72 years<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 10pt; font-family: 'book antiqua', palatino, serif;\">Mrs Lucy B. Cooper died May 16th 1890 at the residence of her brother, Dr. M. H. Bonner, in Nashville, Tennessee, where she had been taken for her (illness?)! She suffered greatly; but at last, went to sleep like a child!<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 10pt; font-family: 'book antiqua', palatino, serif;\">Rev. Thomas A. Hoyt, husband of Sally A. Hoyt died June 29th, 1925 at his residence in Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 10pt; font-family: 'book antiqua', palatino, serif;\"><b>Page 2 &#8211; Remarks<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 10pt; font-family: 'book antiqua', palatino, serif;\">Edmund Cooper Hoyt, son of Thomas A. Hoyt and Sallie A. Cooper, was born in Nashville May 11th 1879.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 10pt; font-family: 'book antiqua', palatino, serif;\">Horace Polk Cooper, eldest child of Horace S. &amp; Ella Polk Cooper was born neat Columbia, Tennessee before January 2nd 1887.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 10pt; font-family: 'book antiqua', palatino, serif;\">Margaret Cooper, eldest child fo Edmund Cooper Jr and Sue A. Cooper was born in Shelbyville, June 18th 1894.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 10pt; font-family: 'book antiqua', palatino, serif;\">Edmund Cooper 3rd, second child of Edmund Cooper Jr and Sue A. Cooper was born in Shelbyville, November 12th 1895<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 10pt; font-family: 'book antiqua', palatino, serif;\">William Henry Cooper, third child of Edmund Cooper Jr and Sue A. Cooper was born in Shelbyville, May 25th 1897.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 10pt; font-family: 'book antiqua', palatino, serif;\">Lucy Bonner Cooper, eldest child of Ernest Bonner Cooper and Sarah Vnce Cooper was born in Shelbyville, July 19, 1895<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 10pt; font-family: 'book antiqua', palatino, serif;\">Ernest Vance Cooper, second child of Ernest Bonner Cooper and Sarah Vance Cooper, was born in Shelbyville, December 20th, 1898<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 10pt; font-family: 'book antiqua', palatino, serif;\">Margaret Cooper Wallheiser died Feb. 7th, 1964 at 9:45 PM in the Bedford County Hospital after a long illness which resulted from hardening of the arteries.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 10pt; font-family: 'book antiqua', palatino, serif;\">Margaret C. Wallheiser, daughter of Margaret and Frank Wallheiser died Oct. 12, 1939 as a result of an automobile accident.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 10pt; font-family: 'book antiqua', palatino, serif;\">Frank Jacob Wallheiser, husband of Margaret C. Wallheiser died after an illness of 2 weeks in Bedford Cty. Hospital with Cardiac Thrombosis April 25th, 1955.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 10pt; font-family: 'book antiqua', palatino, serif;\"><b>Page 3 &#8211; Marriages<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 10pt; font-family: 'book antiqua', palatino, serif;\">Edmund Cooper and Mary E. Stephens were married on the evening of the 22nd day of October 1844, at the residence of the Reverand Daniel Stephens in Bolivar, Tennessee.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 10pt; font-family: 'book antiqua', palatino, serif;\">Edmund Cooper and Lucy R. Bonner were married o the evening of the 22nd day of October 1868 &#8211; at the residence of Dr. M. H. Bonner in Fayetteville, Tennessee.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 10pt; font-family: 'book antiqua', palatino, serif;\">Thomas A. Hoyt &amp; Sallie A. Cooper, ^d\/o Edmund Cooper, Sr., were married June 2nd, 1874, in Shelbyville, Tennessee.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 10pt; font-family: 'book antiqua', palatino, serif;\">Horace S. Cooper &amp; Ella Polk were married January 13th, 1881 in Maury County, Tennessee.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 10pt; font-family: 'book antiqua', palatino, serif;\">Ernest Bonner Cooper and Sara Vance Fogleman, were married April 27th, 1893 in Shelbyville, Tenessee.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 10pt; font-family: 'book antiqua', palatino, serif;\">Edmund Cooper Jr. and Sue A.
