HAILEResearching HAILE. James Haile believed to have been born in VA circa 1795 was in Bedford Co. by 1820 I believe. Name spelled HALE,HAIL and Haile. In 1850 census James HAIL was listed in Civil(?) District 4. Wife Susan and children Peter O. (married to Massey), Dudley, Baxter, Joseph, Sarah, Virginia and Thomas. James desc. by 1860. Susan living with son Dudley in 1860 census. Baxter, my line, married Rebecca, nee Smith, in 1856 and shortly after left for Caldwell Co. KY. Rebecca was daughter of Joseph Smith of Rutherford Co.

Two other sons of William and Nancy were: John M. and William C. TAYLOR. Children of Jarvis and Margaret were: Nancy Elizabeth, James Pike, John M. George W. and three more TAYLORs who died before 1887. This is as far BACK as I can go on either the ACUFF or TAYLOR lines. I can find no mention of ACUFFs in Bedford Co., BUT THEY HAD TO HAVE BEEN THERE at least the first half of the 1800s.

KING, LANDERS, CREWSI am looking for information on the John KING and Paulina LANDERS family from Bedford Co. TN. Paulina was the daughter of Henry LANDERS of Bedford Co. TN. John was a farmer and had a set of twins named Isaac and Jacob CREWS working as farm hands. before 1844. By 1844 the King family moved to Rusk Co. TX bringing the Crews twins with them. Paulina, born in 1827, married Jacob CREWS in 1851, after John KING died. I am trying to locate the parents of Isaac and Jacob Crews born 1830 in KY.
FUGITT, CAMPBELL, MORGAN, WHITE, DONNELLYWould appreciate any additional information on any of the following families: The founder of the FUGITT family in Tennessee was Townsend FUGITT, who was born in 1780 in North Carolina, of Irish-French descent. He married in 1799 Jane CAMPBELL, who was born in North Carolina in 1780. They emigrated to Danville, Kentucky, in 1804 and owned about all the land on which Danville now stands. Concluding that the land was too poor for successful farming, they moved to Tennessee in 1806. He enlisted in the War of 1812 and lived in Bedford County until his death in 1878, at the advanced age of 98. His wife, Jane CAMPBELL FUGITT died in 1837. Their son, Benjamin FUGITT, came from Bedford County to Cannon County early in 1840. He settled about one mile north of Woodbury, where he owned 100 slaves and about 2000 acres of land. He was married first to Susan SCRUGGS; by this marriage he had six children: Jane, Mat, Townsend, Edna, Sallie, and Benjamin; second to Jane ____, who died without children; h
COOPERI am looking for a James or Jim COOPER. He was the brother (or half brother) of William Hickman COOPER. His last known mailing address was a rural route in Wartrace, TN (in Bedford County) in the 1920’s or 1930’s. His wife’s name was likely Francis. Jim’s mother’s name was Nancy COOPER. As far as I know, she was never married, though she had at least two children. Jim’s grandparents were Francis and Annie COOPER (they lived in Wilson, Cannon and Coffe counties) and his great grandparents were Christopher and Permelia COOPER (they lived in Sumner, Wilson and Cannon counties in TN and Culpepper and Washington counties in VA). Robert and his sister are listed in the 1850 Tennessee Census Decatur County. They were living with John and Sarah Price. I think that Isabella might have married a Montgomery. He moved to Bedford Co between 1800 and 1810. He became a Methodist Minister and died 29 Aug. 1849. Huldab died 24 Jan. 1845. Both are buried in old Salem Cementery.

It is believed that Nicholas and Susannah had several children born in Bedford County (Clarrisa, b. 1810; George William, b. 1812; Emma, b. 1816 – perhaps others) and moved to Washington or Edwards County, Illinois where he died shortly afterward and his widow married Andy KINNEY.
